Refunding or Cancelling a Gift Card

There are a few circumstances where you may need to refund a customer for their purchase of a gift card, or void a gift card.

Voiding a Gift Card

To cancel a gift card:

Sales > Gift Cards > Open gift card > More menu > Void

Pointa will ask for a reason. Enter a clear reason, such as Issued in error, Duplicate, or Refunded sale.

Voiding a gift card prevents it from being used.

Refunding a Gift Card Sale

If a gift card sale is returned before the gift card has been used, Pointa can void the gift card as part of the return following the normal returns process. See Returns for more detail.

If the gift card has already been used, even if only partially, the original gift card sale can no longer be returned through the standard returns process. This prevents a business from refunding a gift card that has already been used.
